Champions League: UEFA confirms Rashford suspension for Manchester United’s next match

UEFA has suspended Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for one match in the Champions League.

Rashford will miss the Red Devils’ trip to Galatasaray next week.

The England international was shown a red card as United lost 4-3 to FC Copenhagen earlier this month.

Referee Donatas Ramsas was called to review footage from the pitchside monitor with VAR before sending Rashford off for a foul on Elia Gelato.

The defeat left Erik ten Hag’s team on the brink of being eliminated from the Champions League group stage.

After the match, Ten Hag said: “Everything changed with the red card.

“Then, before half-time, we conceded two goals that should never have counted. The first was offside, the opposition player was standing in front of Andre Onana, and (2) The second penalty was highly controversial.

“The red card was tough.[Rashford]went to get the ball and the referee took a long time to give the red card. It always looks bad when you freeze it. It took a very long time to get it out.”
