CCII calls for due process in appearance of General Iyaloja Oyo

Indigenes of Ibadan say there is nothing wrong with becoming Babaroha or Iyaloha.

The Central Council of Indigenes of Ibadan (CCII) has said it will defend merit, competency, due process and a level playing field for all candidates in the contest for the emergence of General Iyaloja in Oyo State.

In a statement made available to journalists yesterday, the Chairman of the CCII, Nii Ajewole, said that the CCII is in a state of disarray as some people fan the embers of hostility and destroy the cozy atmosphere of peace that Ibadan and Oyo State have cultivated. He said he would not destroy the company. enjoying.

The office said that as a peace-loving socio-cultural organization, it played a neutral role by interacting with the two candidates with the aim of bringing peace to Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

There was a dispute between Mr. Folashade Abeo and Mr. Saratu Konibaje over the post of General Iyaloja in Oyo State.

CCII condemns Mr. Abeo’s discriminatory remarks against Ibadanland, adding that Mr. Abeo should not take Ibadan’s liberalism for granted and that some people have come together to discriminate against his daughter, Saratu Aduke Konibage. He said that the indigenes of Ibadan will not join hands while they threaten and wage war.

Abeo was quoted as saying: “Oyo State belongs to all the zones in the state. Therefore, considering that the Oyo State government has officially recognized Y.K. If we are allowed to produce generals, it will be fair, just and just.”

However, the CCII said that if Mr. Konibaje is fit, qualified, accepted and appears in court following due process, an Ibadan man becoming a Babaloja of Oyo State will preclude an Ibadan daughter from becoming an Iyaroja of Oyo State. He claimed that it was not a thing.

“If indigenes from the same town or city in Oyo State emerge as Babaloha and Iyaloha, so be it. As long as it is based on merit and due process, the people of Ibadan have no reason to object.” said the group.

The statement reads: “Apart from traditional titles, the people of Ibadan do not care who holds what office as long as that person has not done anything to undermine the integrity of Ibadan.

“Non-indigenes have held and continue to hold political positions in Ibadanland on par with local council presidents. No town or city in Oyo State has a better record. .

“Non-Ibadan indigenes have conveniently occupied leadership positions in professional and other groups without facing undue hostility from any quarter.

“In view of the foregoing, we enjoin all concerned to allow peace to reign and, if necessary, to leave the matter to the government to decide. “We humbly request that you intervene fairly and not discriminate based on feelings of hatred or hate.” will be accepted. ”
