CAF Confederation Cup: Wasteful Rivers United scores narrow victory over USM Algiers


Augustin Ojekefa was the hero as Rivers United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Algerian club USM Algiers in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in Uyo on Sunday. .

Okejefa scored the decisive goal in the 10th minute of the match.

USM Aljar struggled to cope with Uyo's harsh weather conditions but could hardly gain a foothold in the match.

Rivers United could have made the scoreline more emphatic if they hadn't been so bad at shooting.

The reverse match will be played next Sunday in Algiers.

Stanley Eguma's side are aiming to become the first Nigerian club to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
