CAF Confederation Cup: NPFL club owners raid Uyo for Rivers United

The Nigeria Premier Football League Club Owners Association has signed a support plan to lead Rivers United to victory in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals against USM Algiers.

Pride of Rivers will face the Algerian side in the first leg on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Rivers United are the only Nigerian club remaining in the CAF competition this season.

The association’s North vice president, Alhaji Sulaiman Umar, said everyone must work together to lead Rivers United to victory.

“Rivers United did a great job of reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, which allowed Nigeria to defend their fourth spot on the continent,” he said.

“This is no mean feat and I congratulate the team management and players for achieving this feat.

“This explains why we club owners flock to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sundays to cheer our teams to victory.”
