CAF Confederation Cup: Eguma regrets missed chances as Rivers United narrowly beat USMA

Rivers United's technical advisor, Stanley Eguma, expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's lack of opportunities in the win over USM Alger.

Pride of Rivers secured a narrow 1-0 win against the Algerian side on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo.

Augustin Okejefa scored the only goal in the quarter-final first leg.

Ekuma said the team will work on the identified mistakes ahead of the return match in Algiers.

“We tried hard to create chances, but we couldn't convert them,” he said in the post-match interview.

“We will go back to the drawing board and see how we can improve.

“As far as the scoreline goes, I just thank God that we were able to win because that’s the most important thing.

“We're going to Algeria with a good fight and we hope for a better result.”

The return trip will be charged towards next Sunday's Stade du Juliette.
