University don, Professor Anthony Okorie Ani has emerged as the Ebonyi South senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC primaries held at the Afikpo North Local Government Headquarters witnessed heavy presence of security forces tolerating the area to avert crisis and breakdown of law and order.

DAILY POST reports that Ani hails from Onitsha Local Government Area of ​​the state and is a Professor of Agricultural Extension at the Federal Polytechnic, Owerri, Imo State.

Mr. Ani has been selected as APC’s Ebonyi South senatorial candidate in the upcoming by-election to be held on February 4, 2024. He will fill the Senate position left vacant by the resignation of David Umahi. You will be victorious.

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission and APC Returning Officer, Mr Akin Akin Sehiyinwa, said Mr Ani secured a total of 281 votes out of the total 285 votes cast in the by-election.

According to him, “Prof. Mr. Anthony Okolie Ani, who secured the highest votes in the Ebonyi South senatorial by-election, is hereby declared the winner and returns as the APC senatorial candidate for Ebonyi State.”

Immediately after the election, the state chairman of the party, Stanley Okoro Emega, told reporters that the APC primaries were free, fair, credible and free from any element of rancor.

He said Ani’s choice to fly the APC flag was to balance political power among the five local governments in the zone.

Mr Emega disclosed the party’s preparations to ensure victory in the upcoming by-elections.

Mr Ani said the upcoming by-elections would be credible and transparent, and his party would win overwhelmingly.
