The 2023 Billboard Music Awards have concluded, with Burna Boy, Taylor Swift and Drake emerging as big winners, with both taking home a total of 39 awards in their careers.

Taylor Swift currently holds the record for highest performance at the BBMAs with 10 awards this year, while Drake added to his impressive track record with five awards and Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy became the top Afrobeats artist at the BBMAs.

With a touch of Burnaboy in the mix, this Afro-fusion sensation won a special award at the BBMAs for the best Afrobeats likely produced in 2023.

Although he can’t match the numbers of Swift or Drake, Burna Boy’s unique contribution to the music industry was celebrated on this grand stage, and in his words, “I dedicate this to Africa. This is what’s going to happen.” This is just the beginning of the story.”

Swift won her third Top Artist award after winning in 2013 and 2015, tying her with Drake for the most wins in the category.

Meanwhile, Drake acknowledged Swift’s chart potential in the lyrics of his latest song “Red Buttons,” saying she is the only one receiving praise.

The dynamic duo have been chart rivals since their debut in the 2000s, boasting impressive statistics on the Billboard charts. Both have his 13 No. 1 albums and his 16 Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200.

However, Swift has been at number one for 65 weeks compared to Drake’s 35 weeks. Drake leads the Billboard Hot 100 with 13 No. 1 hits and 76 Top 10 hits, ahead of Swift’s 11 No. 1 hits and 49 Top 10 hits.

As we eagerly await next year’s BBMAs, it’s a close race between Swift and Drake, and no artist will be able to overtake them any time soon.

The music industry’s attention is on these chart giants, and Burna Boy’s recognition adds a global touch to the celebration of musical excellence.
