BREAKING NEWS: Tinubu appoints Desmond Akawor as RMAFC Federal Commissioner

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as Federal Member of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Finance Commission (RMAFC), pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuli Ngerale, on Thursday said a new RMAFC federal commissioner will be appointed to represent Rivers State following the tragic death of the immediate past chairman of the state. Assondu Wena Temple, earlier this month.

Mr. Akawole has served his country as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea. Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority. He is the CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority and the Executive Director (Engineering and Technical Services) of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

The President tasked the new Secretary with deploying his proven experience to all three tiers of government for comprehensive reform of the process to make the most efficient and productive use of allocations to all three tiers of government.
