BREAKING NEWS: Sokoto Guber: Court of Appeal recognizes Governor Aliyu’s victory

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has confirmed the election of Mr. Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor of Sokoto State.

A three-judge panel of the court declared Aliyu the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election after rejecting the appeal of Saidu Umar, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

DAILY POST reported that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Jos, Sokoto State, had earlier upheld the victory of Aliyu of the APC.

The court ruled that petitioner PDP and its candidates had failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

The PDP and its candidate, Mr. Saidu Umar, had approached the court to challenge the victory of the APC and its candidate, Mr. Ahmad Aliyu, in the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

They extended their pursuit of justice to the Court of Appeals, where they lost on Monday.
