Breaking News: Okuoma Massacre: Meeting between Delta State Governor Obolewori and Tinubu

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Obolewori has met with President Bola Tinubu over the killing of over a dozen military personnel in Okuoma, a community in the state.

Recall that 17 military personnel comprising a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain and 12 soldiers were killed during a “peacekeeping mission” in the Okuma community.

Although the government has condemned the incident and promised that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, the governor's visit to the presidential villa may have been prompted by the incident.

The governor, speaking to statehouse correspondents after a private meeting with the president, said the situation was under control and assured there would be no further attacks.

The governor declined to confirm reports of reprisal attacks allegedly carried out by the military or the number of casualties, saying it was something he could not say publicly.

He said he met with Bomadi security chiefs on Monday, but was unable to meet with residents of the area as the scene of the incident was completely deserted.
