BREAKING NEWS: Ibadan Kingmaker Appoints Olakurehin as 43rd Olubadan
Kingmakers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have appointed the current Balogun Senior Chief of Ibadanland, Owolabi Akinloye Olakurehin, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Kingmakers are also members of the Olubadan Council.
Olakurehin's appointment was approved at a meeting held at the Mapo Hall on Friday.
The meeting started around 11 a.m. and ended a few minutes after 12 p.m., DAILY POST reported.
The Olubadan chair became vacant following the passing of the 42nd title holder, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, who joined his ancestors last month.
The Olubadan Council met on Friday at Mapohor to nominate Mr. Olakurehin, and the nomination was approved by all the councilors present.
Mr. Olakurehin was nominated by Mr. Osi Balogun and Mr. Lateef Adebimpe of Ibadanland.
The meeting, which was attended by Olakurehin, was chaired by Chief Rashidi Ladoja, Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former Governor of Oyo State.
Other members of the Olubadan Council participating in the meeting include Mr. Osi Olubadan, Mr. Eddy Oyewole Foko. Asippa Olubadan, Abiodun Kola Daisi. Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade. Ekarun Olubadan, Adebayo Akande. Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe. Asipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola. Ekerin Balogun, Dada Isoe, Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez.
Our correspondent who was monitoring the meeting reported that Otun Balogun’s Tajudeen Ajibola was absent.
Our correspondent reported that immediately after the ratification, the supreme chiefs will send Olakurehin’s name to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for approval.
