Bisola Badmus revealed on her Instagram page that she has been battling a brain disease known as encephalopathy for over a year. Encephalopathy is a broad term that includes a variety of brain diseases that affect both the structure and function of the brain, causing problems such as confusion and memory loss.

In a heartfelt birthday post on Monday, Badmus revealed that she has been on a difficult journey due to an illness that forced her to take a break from social media. She expressed gratitude for being able to celebrate her birthday again, especially considering the seriousness of her health issues.

“Lord, thank you for another wonderful year and a healthy new year,” the actress said. “For more than a year, I have been battling a health problem (encephalopathy). I can't even wish such a disease on my enemy. It's been really difficult.”

Ms Badmus acknowledged the support she received during this trying time and highlighted the loss of her mother during her health battle. She expressed her gratitude to her family, industry colleagues, business associates, and the brands she represents for their unwavering support.

“Therefore, I have been away from social media for a long time. During that time, I lost my precious mother. I am grateful that I was able to welcome you,” she reflected. “I would be an ungrateful person if I did not thank the wonderful people who supported me during difficult times.”

She concluded her post by expressing her heartfelt gratitude to those who supported her, highlighting the pivotal role they played in helping her overcome the challenges of her encephalopathy. The Yoruba film industry and fans supported her and sent her messages of love and strength as she continues to fight her brain disease.
