Benue: NEMA distributes relief materials to victims of farmer and herdsmen violence
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA North Central Regional Headquarters and the Benue State Government on Friday began distributing relief materials to victims of farmer-herder violence and flood disasters in the state.
The relief materials were distributed to the victims at North Bank, Baka Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.
NEMA North Central Zone Coordinator, Mr. Eugene Lewis Nilong, who conducted the exercise, said the items were approved after joint evaluation with the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA.
He commended the tireless efforts of Governor Arya and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Senator George Akume in ensuring the prompt distribution of relief materials to assist the IDPs and IDPs.
Mr Nealon said their goodwill went a long way in mitigating the immense hardship in the camp and the negative impact of the floods on the victims.
SEMA Executive Director James Iorupu, who received the relief materials on behalf of the state government, said the relief materials would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of internally displaced persons and flood victims, and thanked the federal government for its support. did.
Mr Iorupu, who was represented by the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr Donald Kombenda, appealed to the displaced people to continue to support the administration of Governor Aria.
