Before my parents let me play music, I cried every day – Tyra
South African singer Tyra Laura Cesar (also known as Tyra) has revealed that she had a hard time convincing her parents to let her pursue music.
Her parents were against her decision to become a musician, as they did not consider music to be a career.
The “Water” singer said her parents finally relented after she cried for days.
In a recent interview with Power 106 FM in Los Angeles, USA, Tyra said: They said, “Music is not a job.'' That's a hobby. ”
“So I literally had to cry every day and tell them that I wanted to do this. There was nothing else I wanted to do. It was difficult to convince them. It's also because it doesn't happen. I've heard a lot of women who wanted to do music but it didn't turn out the way they wanted. So my parents just protected me and that's fine, but I… I showed my parents that I really wanted to pursue music.”
