A child's body was found burned, mutilated and ravaged by stray dogs outside a construction site.
The child is suspected to have been abandoned shortly after birth in Thailand's Mae Hong Son province, near a stone factory worker camp.
A 24-year-old employee told authorities that after work, around 6 p.m. local time, he was walking home and saw what he described as two dogs gnawing on what appeared to be human remains.
The child's abdomen was torn and pieces of his limbs were missing, including his entire right arm. The child's head was also partially burned.
Thaiger reported that police searched the area for missing body parts and interviewed camp residents to check for recent pregnancies or disappearances. They did not identify any suspects.
KhaoSod reported that a mother may have given birth to the baby shortly before he died, before trying to burn him in a panic, with the smell attracting dogs.
Police are examining CCTV from the surrounding area.
