Arson attack: Former Benue governor Apel Aku's family cries for justice

The family of Benue State's first civilian governor, the late Apel Aku, has called out for justice after their home was destroyed by thugs in an arson attack in the state's Gboko area.

The family is also asking for the support of the public and other well-wishers to help cushion the impact of the attack that left them homeless.

DAILY POST recalls that the Apel Aku Gboko mansion was vandalized by hoodlums last Monday.

Trouble is said to have started between the former governor's family and neighbors over the alleged destruction of a corn farm and the killing of a goat.

Neighbors claimed that Aku's family had killed a goat and that the goat had destroyed the family's corn farm.

The development led to an arson attack on Aku's family and the building's demolition.

Deborah Aku, the daughter of the Apel Aku family, revealed that her family lost everything, including their original certificates, in a fire that set their home on fire.

“My family and I almost lost our house to the ground, and although the police rescued us, we lost all our possessions.”

“We ask that people help us obtain justice and compensation for this cruel act. We have been left homeless.”
