APC crisis: NWC disbands Rivers branch leadership, appoints Wike supporters management committee


The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved all levels of executive committees of its Rivers State chapter.

The ruling party’s communications secretary, Felix Morca, made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday.

The party has appointed Tony Okocha, an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, as its interim chairman.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the NWC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Morka said the party’s decision was signed by the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the National Deputy Commissioner Barr. Festus Juantel.

He said: “The NWC of the APC, at its meeting on November 22, 2023, calls for a firm decision taken by the Rivers State chapter based on the powers vested in the party’s NEC and the provisions of Article 13. “We recognized that the situation was unavoidable.” By this action, it is resolved that all levels of executive committees of the party in Rivers State be dissolved.

“A management committee shall be appointed to carry out comprehensive electronic registration of all members in the state.

“To facilitate the establishment of new executive committees from district to state.”

He nominated Chief Tony C. Okocha as Chairman, while Chief Eric Nwibani was nominated as Secretary. My lord. Chibuike Ikenga, Prince Stephen Aboro, His Royal Highness. Its members include Sylvester Vidin, Senibo Karibi Danjumbo and Miss Darling Amadi.
