Unidentified gunmen have allegedly shot dead two members of the Anambra State Vigilance Group in Agulujibo, Anaocha Local Government Area of ​​Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria.

A video of the attack seen by DAILY POST on Tuesday showed two people lying on the ground along the road.

“You saw what the unknown gunmen just did in Agulujibo,” said a man who spoke Igbo and was believed to be the gunman.

When DAILY POST called the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, he confirmed that there was an attack by armed men in Aguljigbo.

Regarding the number of casualties, he said two people were injured.

He said police and local vigilante groups resisted the attack.

He noted that normalcy had returned to the area with the deployment of security personnel.

“All I know is that the police and local vigilante groups resisted the attack and two of my men sustained gunshot wounds. With the deployment of police, normalcy has returned to the area. Ta.

“The situation is being monitored. A deliberate operation is underway to apprehend the suspects.”

Agulujigbo is a town in Anaocha Local Government Area of ​​Anambra State, comprising six villages including Ile-Owerre, Etureze, Ifuru, Ufa, Ifite and Nduana.
