Amana, Ohanku: Ebonyi government begins demarcation of border communities

The peace committee set up by the Ebonyi State Government is headed by the Land Surveyor-General, Hon. Mr Matthew Nwobasi has initiated the demarcation of the border communities of Amana and Ohanku in Ezza South and Ikwo Local Government Areas respectively.

The state land surveyor, Hon Nwobasi, said the process was a success, adding that the two communities were cooperative.

He enjoined all concerned to continue promoting peace in the region.

“Every team came in a certain number of people, so we visited the site. We made certain agreements in some specific areas as well.

“Both villages have agreed on some specific areas. The land surveying has been completed and all that remains is for the technical team to go around and complete the work,” he said.

Dr. Ilan Donatus, one of the committee members and State Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, also spoke, praising the team's efforts to ensure peace in the region.

He explained that all necessary mechanisms have been put in place by the Governor to ensure that all communities facing border crises are permanently resolved and demarcated.

“I'm glad that these people are following us along and ironing out the gray areas and accepting the points that have been marked as boundaries. So this is a welcome development.”

“That is why the governor established this peace commission to ensure that lasting peace is established in all communities in the state, just like here in Amana and Ohanku,” he added.
