Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has advised President Bola Tinubu not to interfere in the functioning of the judiciary.
The Abuja Court of Appeal last Friday annulled the victory of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf. The court said the governor was not a member of a political party.
Oguntoyinbo, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Ogun State NNPP, in a speech on Tuesday said Tinubu should not threaten the judiciary.
The NNPP leader said in a statement published to DAILY POST on Tuesday after a solidarity visit to Mr. Yusuf: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not interfere in the functioning of the judiciary and instead ‘governance should be allowed to function effectively as expected in a democratic framework.’
“The President should not intimidate the judiciary. He should realize that Nigeria is not Lagos, which has turned Nigeria into an APC state with no functioning opposition party.
“The APC as a party and the President are so desperate to control every state in Nigeria that they put pressure on the judiciary to achieve their objective of imposing one-party system on the country. I rely on it.
“Last week, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar warned the people of the ruling APC and President Bola Tinubu’s plan to turn the country into a one-party state. I agree with Alhaji Atiku and other I want all politicians to stand up and warn President Tinubu not to turn the country towards Lagos State.
