Aguero reveals he would have joined an EPL club instead of Man City
Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has admitted he wanted to move to Liverpool when he was younger.
According to Aguero, as a teenager he idolized Michael Owen.
He told the stake:
“Even when I was playing on PlayStation, I tried to play like Owen!”
Agüero joined Argentine club Independiente at the age of 15 before moving to Atletico Madrid at the age of 18 in a deal worth more than £17 million.
He later became a key member of City’s side, which endured an intense title battle with Liverpool.
The 35-year-old, who was forced to retire in December 2021 after being diagnosed with a heart condition, does not know why he did not sign for Liverpool.
He further added:
“I read that they didn’t take up the offer because I was still young and it seemed like a risky bet considering the transfer fee.”
