AFCON: Mikel talks about the possibility of Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has given his opinion on the team’s chances ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Mikel was part of the Super Eagles who conquered the rest of the continent in the 2013 tournament hosted by South Africa.

Jose Peceiro’s team will aim to win Ivory Coast’s fourth AFCON title.

Mikel compared the current team to the team that won the tournament in 2013.

“There are quite a few differences. Football has changed from what it was 10 years ago, and to put it dogmatically it has really changed. I think this group of players now is a very young team,” Mikel told CAF media. Told.

“Let’s hope to see a good performance from our Nigerian team because they are playing a completely different brand of football.”

The Super Eagles will face hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group C.
