Algerian legend Raba Majer has backed the Super Eagles to challenge for the title at the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Jose Peceiro's team will aim for their fourth title in Ivory Coast in 2023.

Majer named the Super Eagles as one of the favorites to win.

Majer, who won the AFCON title with Algeria in 1990, told CAFonline: “Predicting the standout team is a difficult task given the diverse range of strong candidates.” .

“Some teams obviously aim to advance in the continental competition, while others enter the competition with the sole aim of winning the coveted title.

“It is very difficult to single out a particular team as the favorite to win, especially when strong teams such as hosts Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria are in the final.”

The Super Eagles will face Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
