Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway to be completed within 24 months – Minister Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the entire section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway will be completed within 24 months.

Senator David Umahi said this on Friday while inspecting the Abuja-Kaduna section of the expressway.

Accompanied by Coordinating Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Wale Edun, the minister explained that the new schedule was drawn up after the government reached an agreement with the road contractor, Julius Berger Construction Company.

Recall that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government signed a contract in 2018 with a completion time of 36 months but failed to fulfill its promise.

Mr Umahi, however, blamed the delay on lack of funds and assured the government's commitment to complete the road on time.

He said: “With the new dates agreed, Julius Berger had agreed to complete 15 kilometers each day.”
