Zimbabwean woman caught carrying her ex-boyfriend?s head and upper body in a suitcase

A 30-year-old Zimbabwean woman, Tatenda Mhlanga, was arrested alongside a South African man, John Lebese, 53, for killing, beheading and mutilating the body of her boyfriend.

Mhlanga and Lebese from Watville appeared at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng, South Africa on Monday, November 20, 2013.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.

“It was said that on November 11, 2023, two police officers were carrying a prohibited crime suitcase,” Lumka Mahanjana, NPA Regional Spokesperson, Gauteng Division: Pretoria.

“The shopkeepers asked the two to open the suitcase and found a human head and the body above Mhlanga’s boy friend, Obert Mazadza (42), who is also a Zimbabwean national.

“After learning about the body parts, it is alleged that the guards called the police.

“When the police arrived and were still busy at the scene, the Community Policing Forum (CPF) came forward and reported that other body parts were found at the dumping site nearby.

“Lebese was arrested at the scene and Mhlanga, who was on the run while the guards searched the suitcase, surrendered to the police the following day on November 12, 2013.

“In court, Mhlanga dropped his bail application, and the matter was adjourned to November 24, 2023, for Lebese’s formal bail application.”
