460 students enrolled at Newgate University
The University of Newgate in Niger State has administered the oath of admission for the second time to 460 students, including the first batch of Doctor of Physiotherapy.
Newgate University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sadiq Yusuf made this known on Wednesday while addressing new students at the university premises in Minna.
Yusuf pointed out that 460 students were admitted to 14 bachelor’s degree programs in the faculties of Medical and Health Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, Management and Social Sciences.

The VC further highlighted that the university, through the Ibiyeye Hunt Talent and Development Initiative, is providing full scholarships to 15 students enrolled in the university, who have graduated from public schools in the state capital, Minna, and are highly qualified. He added that he is making good progress. Although he passed his O-level exams, he was unable to further his education due to his socio-economic status.
He asserted that the university continues to grow and stands out in the nation’s academic community, noting that its commitment to innovation and the overall growth of its students is unwavering.
“A university is a place where you can enjoy many freedoms, but they often come with corresponding obligations. You must know that the end of your freedom is the beginning of someone else’s. “We must not only protect our rights, privileges, and freedoms, but also avoid trampling on the rights, privileges, and freedoms of others,” he reminded the new students.
He revealed that during the third admission, the university will admit Bachelor of Laws students and by the fourth admission, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students as well.
Yusuf encouraged the students to follow the example of their mentors and teachers in self-discipline, self-care, appropriate attire, and dedication to study and work.
Earlier, President and Proprietor of Newgate University, Mr. Hassan Nouf, said that the breakthrough successes recorded were due to the dedication of the management and staff of the college, adding that the school has expanded from nursery school to He revealed that he started secondary education and then university level.
Mr Nouf thanked parents, guardians and stakeholders for their significant contribution to the success of the facility.
The oath of admission was administered to the students by Baba Ziya, the university secretary.
