At least 25 people have been killed in a multi-vehicle accident at Peke village alongside the Oko-Olowo-Bode-Sadu Expressway in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The tragic accident on Tuesday concerned a petroleum tanker with registration quantity JJN 17 XW and an 18-seater bus.
Spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, who disclosed this in a press release in Ilorin on Wednesday, mentioned 25 people misplaced their lives in the car accident and 15 others had been rescued with accidents.
“Firefighters labored diligently to carry down the inferno, however sadly 25 people misplaced their lives and 15 others had been rescued with accidents.
“Investigation revealed {that a} petrol tanker from Niger State was touring on the fallacious facet of the street and collided head-on with a lorry from Lagos State.
“The collision resulted in a fire that quickly consumed both vehicles and also damaged the 18-seater bus from Lagos.”
The Kwara State Fire Service Commissioner, Farade Olumuyiwa, expressed deep disappointment over the incident and burdened the necessity for street customers to prioritize protected driving.
