Super Falcons captain Onone Ebi has defended the Super Eagles after the team got off to a shaky start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Eagles failed to record a win in their opening two games against mid-ranked opponents Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Jose Peseiro’s team managed to draw 1-1 in their first match against Lesotho’s Likuena.
The West Africans’ next match ended in a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.
The players faced severe criticism for their lackluster play.
However, Shrimp jumped to the Super Eagles’ defense.
“It’s really unfortunate that we have the best players in the world and it’s been difficult to win games convincingly these days. It’s really sad,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
“We need full support and we’ve had enough of abusing, insulting and discouraging players after bad games.
“After all this has happened, the players are feeling really bad. I hope everyone who loves soccer will do more to help each other.”
