Outgoing First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has stated that privileges similar to the availability of autos, sponsored medical remedies and provision of some stipends, amongst others which might be resulting from former Presidents, also needs to be prolonged to the wives of former Presidents. Mrs Buhari made the decision when she spoke on the launching of a guide in Abuja authored by the President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Vickie Anwuli Irabor. Explaining why the privileges must be prolonged to first women, Mrs Buhari stated, I married my husband because the spouse of a former president. I’m going in just a few days as a spouse of a former president a second time. They ought to think about us as former first women. They ought to incorporate the primary women, give us some privileges that we deserve as first women, not simply the previous presidents.
