To maintain peace in Isolo area of Lagos State, the Rotary Club of Isolo, has trained 100 residents on peace-building and conflict resolution.
The event was part of the club’s monthly programmes. Tagged: “Peace-Building and Conflict Resolution,” the President, the Rotary Club of Isolo, Dr. Atilade Femi Oshoniyi, who said “conflict is inevitable,” added that reputable speakers were invited to speak on the topic.
The President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PDG Michael Olawale-Cole, represented by Group Human Resources Head, Colenson Group, Temiloluwase Oluwatanmi, said: “There was a sober reflection from the participants who promised to take what they learnt home and talk to their children on how to maintain peace in the environment.”
Olawale-Cole enjoined the people to be wary of causes of conflicts and factors that can hinder peace and impinge on friendship.
He listed the causes as intolerance, unhealthy competition, destructive criticism, personality clashes, arrogance and others.
The club also carried out Rotary Family Health Day, where another 100 people also benefitted from polio immunisation for children, screening and treatment of people for malaria, Hepatitis B&C, and tuberculosis, among others.
Oshoniyi lectured the participants on the rights of patients, who visit hospitals, the side effects of their medications, the right to see any doctor of their choice, among others.
