The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the killing of the party’s Campaign Coordinator in Ahoada-West Local Government Area, Chisom Lennard, during the governorship and state assembly elections held on Saturday.
The spokesman of the Rivers APC 2023 campaign council, Sogbeye Eli, who confirmed the development on Saturday night, said Lennard was shot dead while trying to stop miscreants.
According to Eli, the miscreants were dressed in police uniforms and tried to snatch election materials.
He said, “Our Campaign Coordinator for Ahoada-West Local Government Area, Chisom Lennard, was shot dead as he tried to stop miscreants, dressed in police uniform, who tried to snatch election materials.
“They opened fire on him and killed him. Chisom Lennard of Ubeta community was until his death today at the governorship and state House of Assembly elections, the Ward 10 Leader of the APC and Tonye Cole Campaign Coordinator for Ahoada West Council.”
