Amid strong opposition, the incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, was given a warm reception when he arrived at his Polling Unit (PU) on Saturday morning to exercise his civil rights.
Headline News reports that Makinde and his wife Tamunominini, arrived at PU11 located at Ward 1 in Abayomi-Iwo Road, Ibadan north, this morning as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) attend to electorates already on the queue.
Upon the arrival of his convoy a distance away from his polling unit, a mob thronged after Governor Makinde in a show of love, chanting ‘Omituntun’, a popular slogan used by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp in the state.
They were also heard chanting Makinde’s re-election songs as he wave at the people with smiles.
Makinde is in a fierce contest against All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin, his closest rival.
