The incumbent governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has emerged as the winner of the state gubernatorial election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Dapo Abiodun, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the state governorship election held on Saturday.

Dapo Abiodun was re-elected as the state governor after polling a total of 276,298 votes to defeat his co-contenders.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu, emerged as Dapo Abiodun’s closest rival in the state with a total of 262,383 votes, while the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Biyi Otegbeye, trailed with 94,754 votes.

Dapo Abiodun has served as the governor of Ogun State since May 29, 2019.
