Family of the late Big Brother Naija Star, Patrick Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, has called for an investigation over the handling of the deceased after he was involved in a car accident on October 11, 2022.

The family said when the first respondent realised that Doren Hospital was not willing to attend to their son, he took Rico to Ever care, and that in less than five minutes, a doctor came to tell him that he needed to deposit N4.2 million. Speaking on behalf of the family Mayo Dele, said: “They demanded for N4.2 million, but we paid N3.5 million, they used N1,981,782.37 and they were supposed to refund N1.5 million, but they are yet to refund after they promised to three weeks ago.”

Asked if the family would pursue the matter legally, he said: “The family is still mourning but just wants to state what happened and how we were treated.”

When The Guardian reached out to Evercare Hospital through its support centre, it states: “I do not have information as regards this, you can kindly send a mail to info@evercare.ng.

A message of inquiry was also sent to the email address provided, but no response was yet received from the hospital.

Doren Hospital did not also pick up the call or respond to a text sent to the number on its site 08023062100.

Contacted, spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, aid: “No one reported the case to the police, sincerely, we don’t know anything about that.”
